	The Wetlands Alliance  Newsletter October 2011 Dear WA Subscribers, The evaluation of the Wetlands Alliance, which was undertaken by the Institute of Development Studies, has been completed.  The team of IDS held a debrief for the Alliance partners and Sida representatives on October 19. Overall their findings were very positive. You can find more details about their findings and recommendations in the news section. Eam Dyna and Chea Seila at The WorldFish Center have shared some of their initiatives carried out in North Eastern Cambodia in two articles. Eam Dyna's article is about how media produced by rural communities can help to create greater awareness of their concerns and experiences. Chea Seila's article talks about how PUR can give better access to clean drinking water. You can also find these articles in the news section. I am now on my last days working with the Alliance as I will be leaving for a new position with the Mekong River Commission on the 11 November 2011. The last four years have been very interesting and challenging and have been very fulfilling from my own personal point of view. I will continue to work in the region and will now and then have the opportunity to meet with some, if not all, of you in different settings. Best Regards, Hans Guttman Latest News   Evaluation of the Wetlands Alliance by Institute of Development Studies (IDS) - During 2008 a so called 'soft review' was commissioned by the Alliance to provide some external assessment of the Alliance work so far, however it was agreed with Sida that a more independent evaluation was needed and to be undertaken in 2011. To this end the Alliance engaged the Institute of Development Studies (IDS) to undertake an evaluation of the Alliance in October 2011.   PUR introduced to community in Kratie and Stung Treng - Access to clean drinkable water is a challenge to many rural communities in Cambodia. Those that live along the Rivers, dams, flooded or natural disaster areas are vulnerable to diseases affected by water such as diarrhea, cholera and typhoid. One innovative way to address this problem is a small piece of technology called PUR that purifies water.   How Community Produced Media Can Help Local People Share and Learn more about the Changes to Village Life on the Mekong - Local partners of the Wetlands Alliance and their local communities in Northeast Cambodia, in Kratie and Stung Treng, have organized a community produced media (CPM) team, which is supported and backstopped by the WorldFish Center.
