In southern Thailand, there is a need to document many of the Pak Phanang experiences of people engaged in diversified livelihood activities in a dynamic coastal environment. The process of establishing community-based Units of Excellence will provide useful lessons for other coastal communities in the region. In both coastal and inland contexts in Thailand, national and provincial authorities in the other WAP countries will benefit from Thailand documenting their policies, technical advice and financial plans for activities that address local needs. Both the content and the process of documentation will be of interest to partners in neighboring countries.
CORIN and AIT field offices will encourage, facilitate and host students from AIT and other post-graduate/graduate educational institutions both in this region and other parts of the world to undertake thesis research or special study assignments that will contribute towards developing wetland management case studies and lessons learned.
